Space, Page 193
In Porky in Wackyland (1939), Porky descends into the heart of darkness in search of the mythical last Dodo bird. In this short, Africa appears as a land beyond reason, a nonsensical Dali-esque landscape populated by minstrels and other absurdist creatures.
WB would repurpose the backgrounds at the end of this clip in its Tin Pan Alley Cats (1943), which uses racist caricature in the service of wartime propaganda.
