Race, Page 204

Violence is a fact of life in the cartoon world. Malleable cartoon bodies are contorted for comic effect, which is a form of violence. In Rabbit Fire (1951), Daffy Duck seems merely annoyed that a bullet has ripped his scalp from his skull, merely offering a double take to the camera.

This 1951 WB cartoon features the excessive, and excessively harmless, violence for which Warner Brothers was known. More important, however, is that it demonstrates the absolute plasticity of the animate form and the efforts of characters such as Daffy to implicate the viewer in that violence.
