The cartoon short Trader Mickey (1932) performs a hierarchy of anthropomorphized humanity: the natives play their instruments (and each other's bodies), some on all fours, while the Cannibal King and Mickey wear the white gloves of the minstrel. These subtle differences suggest that tribesmen are barely human, the Cannibal King (who wears gloves yet foolishly wears a girdle for a crown) moreso, and Mickey as minstrel is the most evolved.
