English and Comparative Literature 225 Anniversary Timeline

2021 - 225th Celebration

The Department of English and Comparative Literature celebrates 225 years of the study of rhetoric, writing, film, and literature at UNC.  Postponed a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person and virtual events scheduled from September 9 to October 29 highlight the array of contributions students and faculty members make to the Department of English and Comparative Literature. Keynote speakers include Frank Bruni, Trudier Harris, and Jill McCorkle, and music is provided by Tift Merritt and Joseph Ferrell. Attendees are also invited to attend classes with a favorite professor, have conversations with authors, join a book club, view and discuss a film, and hear special presentations from current students.

More information and registration for all events is available at https://ecl225.unc.edu/. Join us for this joyous fundraiser and birthday party!
