1913 - Edward Kidder Graham (1876-1918) Becomes UNC President

Edward Kidder Graham, a UNC graduate and professor of English, becomes president of UNC. His vision for the University was rooted in public service: he expanded the University’s extension service and greatly increased the influence of the University throughout the state. After only five years at the helm of the University, Graham died in the 1918 flu pandemic.
