1886, October - The Shakespeare Club Founded

In October, Thomas Hume (1836-1912) organizes the University’s Shakespeare Club, dedicated to guiding students in Shakespearean literary studies, as well as composition and analysis of dramatic literature in general. Its monthly meetings consisted of the presentation of papers by club members. The club, with Hume at its helm, lasted until 1907 when it disbanded upon Hume’s retirement.
