Had lunch in restaurant
Beautiful warm day
Got Daimler 38 H.P. open car
through porter + drove to
Hatfield + then back by
the St Albans + Watford to Hendon
Stopped at an old Inn at
Edgeware where Dick Turpin
stayed + had tea, bread + jam
that was excellent in a dingy
litte room. At Hendon we
saw 3 types of biplanes fly
The large army plane shaped
like a fish + all painted
green took 1/2 an hour to
start but flew well steered
by Lieut Porter. Fine field
+ many buildings + a pavilion
to take tea. Reached London
after 58 mile ride at 7. Fine
tar McAdam all the way +
pretty rolling country.
Our driver said his name was
Mr. W. H. Butler Car No. 4974
Very careful + knew the country
well. Had short dinner in
Parlor
