Jep + I went to the banks and
recd what we asked for
Rate 20.40 Dresdner + 19.95 at
Deutsche. Bought 1000 Guilden
at Dresden paying 1800 marks
This morning the rug is down
and the name Hotel Bristol
is shown but a German
flag is draped on each side
of entrance. Walked to Embassy
but nothing new posted.
Had excellent Dinner at Habels
The name Bristol was removed
from the front of the Hotel
this afternoon from 3 places
Stopped raining + I took a
long walk. No war news
Large crowd on Linden this
evening but no excitement
Read an exciting book to
Mother most of afternoon +
evening.
Aug 23 Fine day. Attended
church in morning + all walked
home. Had dinner at Habels.
Read to ladies in afternoon.
