to Mendelsohn + Co. + the would
give me but 15 pounds on Brown
Brun N.Y. + took no Amer. money
Then went to Drusdner Bank
but they would give me no money
today or change American. I
asked about cable transfer +
they suggested I cable Bank
of Comerce to send in money
so did so on my return to Hotel
in German language. At Amer.
Ex. they took my Amer. money +
gave 3.75 marks for dollar
Immediately asked for cheaper
rooms + took a doudle [sic] next +
bath giving up large room + salon
2 new rooms costing 60 marks in
place of 140. Keeping close to
Hotel + going out but little + not
talking on the street. In evening
it was reported English Embassador [sic]
had asked for his passports + the
crowd got very excited. Several
english men + women were followed
+ had to be protected by police
In morning Jep + I went to Amer.
Embassy + found they were
issuing emergency passports
