July 24 Quiet night. No fog.
First sight of land at 
8 A.M. Have not had my
overcoat on since leaving N.Y.
Stopped outside harbor at
Cherbourg at 1215 + landed
about 250 passengers. Started
again at 1. Arr at mouth
of Solent 8 or 10 miles from South
ampore [?] at 5. Took on 150 people
+ let off over 300 + left at 6
Fine night lights plainly
seen along English shores
July 25 Rather choppy all
night + day No land in sight
until we neared Cuxhaven
Docked at 315 P.M. + left on
1st section of special at 415
Rained all P.M. Flat country
but rich farms + houses all
the way. Arr Hamburg at
610 + found beautiful rooms
at the Atlantic Parlor. 3
double bedrooms 2 baths + 2
rooms for Jack + Grant 112 M.
Had delicious dinner in
Apt. Rooms over look the
Aussenalster.
