July 29 Rainy day. Left at 950
No trouble in getting out of town
Good road mostly paved with
small stone blocks all way to
Hanover. Had lunch at Meyers
Hotel Soltau Very fair. Then
through Celle quaint old town
to Hanover 100 m. in 4 hrs 20 min
Rather flat country. Much hotter
just coming into bloom. Must
be beautiful later.
Got fine rooms at Hanover at Hotel
Royal. All took a walk of
a mile then Jep + I a longer
one. Had good dinner in D.R.
July 30 Took a 2 hours drive
in landau in A.M. through the
large public park left in wild
state past the new Rathaus in
its beautiful park sitting by
numerous fine residences, burried [[?]]
in flowers, but not as artificially
arranged as in Hamburg and
through the old town which
was of little interest
Many fine public bldgs
