They asked if I would like 50
pds + in much surprise I said I
would. In a minute the clerk
returned + said Mr Wade we can
give you 200 pds if you want it
I of course said I did + expressed
my appreciation. As they had
refused to give anything on
one application + only 10 pds on
another I was much puzzled +
thought the Bank of Commerce
must have gotten word to them
to take care of us. All the
family took walk in Tier Garten

Had telephone from American
Consul General saying he had an
inquiry from home regarding the
Wade party + wanted to know
how we were so Jep + I went
to Consulate after lunch

me long cable from State

whereabouts welfare + needs of
