1/2 mile to the walk no one
went but Jep. Stopped at
Red Lion Inn. No S.R. +
plain rooms but soon warmed
them with fires. Only candles
+ no lesson tonight as heretofore.
Warmer at midday
but cool every night.
No wind today + no rain
since leaving. Very few people
in Hotels Run 70 miles.
Sept 23 Left at 10 via Minfford
for Mackenlleth. Good road with
very fine views. Then on to
Aberystwyth. Poor lunch at Belle
vue Hotel. A good crescent sandy
beach + amusements on a cheap
order. Then to Devils Bridge
with good road + the grandest
views we have had in Wales
Jep + I walked part way down
the gorge for views of the
cascades. Very romantic spot.
Then on to Rhyader with more
barren scenery following the
Wye part of the way.
At Rhyader got plain rooms
