seen yesterday off the harbor
+ the search light of the fort
had played on the flag of
the Tenn. all night and
she had left suddenly
this morning. Had a fair
lunch at the Royal Hotel
Weymouth not attractive to us
Then on to Wareham. Passed
2000 recruits on the way.
One lingering behind said
they were waiting for shoes
+ uniforms for 3 weeks. Expected
them in a week
Just this side of Wareham
we passed a number of
camps. Recruits were
being drilled without
guns or uniforms in various
athletic + military exercises
probably 5000 of them
Then on to Bournemouth
Drove along parade + about
town. Looked at a couple
of Hotels + decided to go to
Blanksome [sic] Tower Hotel 2
miles West. Got good
