Oct 9 Mrs Hickox lunched with
us in our parlor. N. + Mother
called on the Chadwicks
Oct 10 Breakfast at 7 + left
at 745 with bagage [sic] on a bus
Found compartment reserved
on 3rd section of special + left
at 845. Route via Crew Carlisle
+ just outside Glasgow.
The English lake district very
hilly + green + beautiful +
North of Carlisle was also
beautiful. Some of the way
quite mountainous + then much
moor country. Had 2 diners
+ good lunch reserved at 12 + 1
Arr Gourock at 620 + boarded
tender. Were just alongside
Olympic when she got orders
to changer her moorings up
the Clyde as she was in the
range of the search lights
which play constantly from
the forts. We cast off +
followed her slowly. Did
not get aboard until 830
