Bristol which seems to be
headquarters for officers and
royalty are the Duke and
Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein
Prince + Princess of Pless +
their son 17 years old who
goes to the front with his
Father. The Princess is a
tall faded blonde not at
all pretty. Yesterday Gen C
Von Slott an Austrian left
in an auto for Vienna and
expected to make it in ten
hours. Three nights since
a german farewell dinner
was given to 3 sons + yesterday
word came that one was
already dead.
Aug 11 Went to Embassy. Street
crowded in front of it. No news
Then to Dresdner Bank where
I inquired if they had any reply
to my cable. After consultation
they asked me how much I
would like + I said 20 pds +
if they could give me more I
