+ train + drove along the Elbe
to Blankenese passing many
large country places with
grand old trees + beautifully
kept grounds. Heavy hail
storm when returning
2 1/2 hour drive.
July 28 Shopped in morning
with N. + I attended the Arts
+ Crafts Museum. Large coll.
of old carved furniture iron
work porcelain + Jap. bronze
all work but textiles + paintings.
Some modern work of the best
type only. In P.M. drove to
Hagenbecks. Very unusual
arrangement of artificial rock
+ cliffs for animals. Many lions
and a good general collection of
animals + birds. Beautiful
grounds, gardens, restaurant + music
Also a luna [?] park in connection
Took a long walk afer with Jep
