č, č̓, š, y, y̓

č, č̓, š, y, y̓     These are produced with the tongue toward the front part of the roof of the mouth–a little farther back than for t.
č  is the same as the sound at the beginning and end of English ‘church.’
č̓  is ejective. It is like č but ‘ejected’ out of the mouth with a strong pop.
š  is the same as the sound at the beginning of English ‘sugar’ or ‘shoe.’
y  is the same as the sound at the beginning of English ‘yes’ and at the end of ‘buy.’
y̓  is like y but is made with a creaky sound caused by a tightness in the throat.
