5 Possessive Pronouns
In Klallam, possession translated ‘my,’ ‘your,’ ‘his,’ and so on is indicated by adding something to the beginning (prefix) or end (suffix) of the word for the thing possessed.
To express the idea of English ‘mine,’ ‘yours,’ and so on in Klallam you use a special word, skʷáʔ, with the possessive prefixes and suffixes.
This special word skʷáʔ is also used for emphatic possession, which in English is expressed with extra stress on the possessive word, as in, ‘It’s my money!’
