► 1 The article cə is the most common and most useful article in Klallam. It is usually translated as ‘the’ or ‘that.’
► 2 The article cə is frequently pronounced c or t or tə.
► 3 Note that, as always, the verb in Klallam comes first. Where in English we say ‘the deer goes,’ the Klallam is ‘goes the deer’ when translated word for word.
► 4 Note that the noun phrase is the subject with an intransitive verb such as hiyáʔ but is the direct object with a transitive verb such as ƛ̓kʷə́t.
