Klallam Grammar

35.1. Exercises

35.1A. Memorize the story and be able to tell it aloud in nəxʷsƛ̓ay̓əmúcən. Make sure that only the words with accent marks are stressed when you say the lines. Work on a smooth delivery.

35.1B. Using the story in the model, create a new story by simply changing words in each line. For example, you could change ƛ̓ácu to ƛ̓aʔtáwn, čáʔsaʔ to ŋəsáy, and suʔwə́y̓qaʔ to sɬənɬániʔ to get hiyáʔ ƛ̓aʔtáwn cə ŋəsáy sq̓ʷəyiʔáʔən̓ sɬənɬániʔ  ‘Four deaf women went to town.’  Use your imagination, but keep it grammatical Klallam. It doesn’t have to make much sense.
