The 1929 film Why Bring That Up? featured the extremely popular blackface minstrels Moran and Mack. The blackface duo had a simultaneous presence in vaudeville, on 78rpm records, on the radio, and in film. This sort of intermedial performance of Jim Crow linked the space of the theatre, radio and home in a network of imaginary space that reinforced a fantasy of black otherness.
