12018-03-16T21:06:42-07:00Erik Loyerf862727c4b34febd6a0341bffd27f168a35aa637294821Coiled basket vessel with slightly conical convex lid. Around the body of the basket, there are rectangular brown (possibly faded green?) decorations, each occurring approx. 15 cm apart and measuring approx. 6 x 2 cm. Damage and unraveling on lid near tip. Typed note inside basket says: "38. Lidded Storage Basket. Tribe: Alaskan Eskimo - Nunivak Island. Design: six faded 2" x 1" dark bars around body. Size: 10"h., 15 1/2 " dia. 9 1/2" opening. Circa: 1900. Condition: basket - good-: the conical knob of the lid is missing as a result of the Curtis household Cocker Spaniel "Peanuts" biting it off. This basket is similar to those pictured on page 78 of [Curtis] Vol. 20 text."
