Recollections of My Life and Reflections on Times and Events During It: A Memoir by Father W. J. Howlett

Rev. Charles Nerinckx

Reverend Charles Nerinckx was a Catholic missionary priest on the Kentucky frontier.  He was born in 1761 in Belgium, and encouraged other Belgian priests to become missionaries on the western frontier.  He helped found the Sisters of Loretto in 1812. Rev. Nerinckx remained a missionary in Kentucky for almost his entire life; he died in 1824, the same year that he moved to Missouri.
