Italian Migrations - HONOR313_FA18

Sierra Sturken

My name is Sierra Sturken and I am a second year kinesiology, pre-PT major with a Spanish minor in addition to the Honors minor. I find history very interesting but I prefer to learn about it through stories, videos, etc. rather than in a traditional history class setting. I chose to take this class because it sounded like an engaging way to learn about the history and culture of Italy. Additionally, I took a surfing class last year in which I met a lot of international exchange students and I really enjoyed talking to them about their home countries and cultures and what they found different or interesting about the US. One of the international students was from Italy, so I learned some snippets of what it is like where she is from, but I am excited to learn more about the country.

Personally, the only migration I have done is coming to SDSU from the Bay Area.
However, my grandpa was born in the Philippines and lived there until he was about 18, when he moved to Colorado to go to college. Additionally, my sister in law was originally from Mexico and she moved to California with her family when she was young. Going a few generations further back, I have family that immigrated to the US from England, Germany, France, and Ireland.
