Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

My name is Naomi Marroquin. I am a third-year Interdisciplinary Studies major focusing on Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology. I’ve been on the school’s rowing team for a year now (I walked on the team last year as a sophomore). I am interested in this topic because I have always been intrigued by Italian culture and I want to travel to Italy sometime so I thought this class would offer some good insight before actually going there. I am also an immigrant myself, I moved from Ensenada B.C. to San Diego in the 8th grade. This migration experience came as a culture shock to me and I had to go through a huge adaptation process.
