Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

I am originally from Temecula, CA, which is a smaller city north of San Diego. I plan to use my degree to become an Architect and eventually move to a firm located in different country. I love to travel and immerse myself in different cultures, and I think living somewhere new would be very refreshing.
This last summer I got the chance to travel to Europe with San Diego State's Weber's Honors College to study abroad in Finland. My friends and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and travel before and after our studies. We first traveled to Amsterdam, Paris, and Berlin. While studying in Finland, we took a weekend trip to Estonia (which I hadn't even heard of before). Then to end the trip we traveled up and down the beautiful country of Italy. I got to experience so much beautiful history, scenery, food, and Italian culture. Italy was by far my favorite adventure because of its beauty and its loving atmosphere. Although I did pick this class before I went to Europe, my trip made me even more excited to learn about the migration and culture of the Italian people.
I don't have much experience with migration, but there are a few people in my life who have migrated to the United States. My grandmother migrated to San Diego when she got married to my grandfather in the 60s. Her and her mother always talked about their life in Mexico and how they adjusted to their new life as immigrants. Their stories always interested me and I am excited to learn about other experiences in this class.
