Italian Migrations - HONOR313_FA18

Jasmine Chi

Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine Chi and I’m entering my third year at SDSU. I’m majoring in Business Administration with a specification in Marketing as well as the Honors minor. On campus, I am a student assistant in the Rhetoric & Writing Studies department and I also work at Shake Smart! I’m a member of the Associated Students Marketing and Communications Committee and have worked in the Special Projects and Social Media subcommittees over the past two years. I’m also a member of the California Epsilon chapter of Pi Beta Phi. Within the chapter, I am in a subcommittee that focuses on our philanthropy events. Last school year we hosted Pie A Pi Phi, Pi Phi Pizookie, and Pi Phi Gives You Wings during which we raised money for our partner organization: First Book Program. First Book is an international nonprofit with the goal of giving children from low-income families their very own books and teaching them the importance of literacy.

When I think about pursuing a career, it’s important that I’m doing something that I can enjoy. I have always been interested in fitness, health and wellness, and the beauty industry, and I want to pursue a marketing career that focuses on one or all of these areas. I’m also passionate about music, films, traveling, and cooking.

I was initially drawn to the class because I want to study abroad in Italy and would love to learn more about the history and culture. It also looked like the most interesting Honors 313 course! I, personally, am not an immigrant, but my grandparents migrated from South Korea to the U.S. following the beginning of the Korean War. In a way, I guess I could say I migrated from South Pasadena to San Diego to attend college!
