Edgar Allan Poe : Portrayal in the Media: an Annotated Bibliography of Edgar Alla Poe as a character

The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe

The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe. Dir. Quandour, Mohy. Prod. Quandour Mohy. Perf. Romero, Cesar, Robert Walker Jr., Tom Drake, et al. Unicorn Video, 1974. Film.

The movie starts with a narrator sitting by a tree who claims to have known Poe and known Lenore (who in this film is an actual person).  It goes on to show Lenore and Poe frolicking in a garden.  Lenore is dressed in clothes that appear to be from the 1970’s.  Then all of a sudden she dies of what appears to be heat exhaustion, possibly. But it’s not true, she’s not dead and is almost buried alive.  The trauma causes her to be in need of psychiatric help.  Cesar Romero is the doctor in the asylum.

The actor bares a very strong resemblance to Edgar Allan Poe except perhaps he looks a bit too thin.  This Poe is more like the detective story Poe and goes about the asylum trying to figure out what is going on with the “mad-man” in the basement.
