Madeline: After the Fall of Usher

Kiraly, Marie. Madeline : After the Fall of Usher. New York: Berkley Books, 1996.

Madeline deals with the story of Madeline Usher, a character in Poe's short story The Fall of the House of Usher.  In this book, Madeline survives the ill fate she met in Poe's story.  In the prologue, Poe meets Pamela Donaldson, a woman claiming her child was stolen by Madeline.  Poe tries to help Pamela find her son.

The book is divided into several parts along with chapters.  Sometimes it is written in the first person from Poe's percpective.  These chapters claim to be taken from the notes and/or journal of Poe.  Other chapters are written in the third person to give more insight into the other characters and there's even one that states it is from Madeline's diary.  The prologue is a letter to Maria Clemm.

There is also a historical note from the author and an afterword.
