Edgar Allan Poe : Portrayal in the Media: an Annotated Bibliography of Edgar Alla Poe as a character

Poe Must Die : A Novel

Olden, Marc. Poe must Die : A Novel. New York: Charter, 1978.

Edgar Allan Poe helps a man, Mr. Figg, find and exact revenge on the man who framed his executed son.  The book is loaded in the occult as the bad guy, Jonathan , is a devil worshiper out to enslave Lucifer himself.  Jonathan uses Poe’s mania against him, sending him images of Virginia to drive him mad with the ultimate goal of sending Poe to his early grave.

Poe is ever critical and melancholy. Even when faced with near death situations he manages, against his better judgement, to make witty comebacks that further express his enemies stupidities and enrage them.  Poe also exhibits detective characteristics.

A cameo is made by Charles Dickens as the person recommending Poe to Mr. Figg.
