Wonderbucks
Eileen Tai
2013
In all of the literature surrounding Wonderland, one facet may (or may not) stand out—what is the tangible economic structure of this place? How does the Caterpillar pay for what it smokes? Who sponsors the goods consumed at the tea party? Where is the paint used on the roses procured? Tai comes up with a suitably Carrollian answer with her three forms of irrational currency, including the deliberately incorrect numerical spelling of pi, which reflects the world’s unpredictable nature.
