Werner and Walter attempt here a hilarious performance of the nonsensical “Lobster Quadrille” described to Alice by the Mock Turtle and Gryphon. Werner purchases a lobster (which she names Gelson), and travels to Santa Monica beach where she struggles to re-create a sequence that is not fully described in the book. Her footage documents the project from conception to her “solo” dance alongside the shoreline, through her recapture of the dead creature and return to its shopping bag.
