CF&I only owned the McNally Coal Mine for one year. It was operated by the Huerfano Fuel Company from 1902-1913. During CF&I's brief ownership and use of the McNally The United Mine Workers of America held a strike referenced as the Second reign of Terror. At McNally a ten day siege took place.  While under siege one Mine worker was shot attempting to protect others, and a woman of the superintendent's family was shot in the arm. The Camp was set on fire and cost the company 35,000 dollars in buildings and equipment.
