Housing Inequality in America

Native American Housing and Poverty

According to the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, Native Americans have some of the worst socioeconomic outcomes and are more likely to be impacted by funding cuts and policy changes.

According to Rebekah May Yeagley, Native Americans are the most regulated demographic in the United States and not surprisingly, the most impoverished. One in four Native Americans live in poverty, the highest rate compared to all other races. According to a 2018 report by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, the Indian Health Service spent $3,332 per person in 2017, compared to $9,207 spent on each person in the national health care system.
