A nineteenth century playbill for Christy's Minstrels features founder E.P. Christy and his stepson, George Christy, who continued Christy's Minstrels after his father's retirement.

A precursor to burlesque and vaudeville, this evening's entertainment combined a burlesque lecture on phrenology, a "Carolina Dance," and the "Cowbellologians".

Just as George Christy had inherited the performance of minstrelsy from his father and continued to develop the form, so did Robert Downey Jr. take up the mantle worn by his father Robert Downey Sr., who vocalized the voice of the title character in Putney Swope (1969).
