Seeking Stories of Queer California: A Hidden Histories Online Exhibit

LGBTQ+ Discrimination

LGBTQ+ discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of LGBTQ+ people and communities due to their sexual or gender identities. This discrimination can take many forms, including the denial of legal rights, employment, and housing, education, and healthcare. It can also take the form of identity erasure, forcing someone to hide their queer identity in order to conform to societal expectations. In any form, confronting LGBTQ+ discrimination requires concerted efforts from individuals, communities, institutions, and governments to promote equality, foster inclusivity, and combat prejudice and bigotry in all its forms.
