FIDM Museum & Library, Inc.

FIDM Museum & Library, Inc. collects, preserves, and interprets fashion objects and support materials with outstanding design merit. It fosters student learning, public engagement, and recognition of the creative arts and entertainment industries by providing access to the collections through exhibitions, publications, and other research opportunities.

Prominent topics and themes represented in the collections held by the FIDM Museum include arts and entertainment, bisexual people, and gay men.

Featured Collections

Arnaud (Michel) collection, 1944-present*
Fashion Photography Archive consisting of approximately 80,000 35mm runway slides and behind-the-scenes fashion show prints spanning the 1970s to the 1990s. Includes depictions of numerous LGBTQ+ designers and models.
Beaton (Cecil) collection, 1904-1980*
Archive consisting of photography, drawings, and first edition books.
Dietrich (Marlene) collection, 1901-1992
Archive consisting of personal and stage wardrobe items.
Levin (Maurice) collection, 1926-2007*
Archive consisting of Jantzen swimwear designs and other professional papers.
