Recessed Ceiling Light Fixture
Object Name
Recessed Ceiling Light Fixture
Label
Constructed of aluminum, copper, and glass, this lighting fixture dates to a 2011 reconstruction project commissioned to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
Though it was installed long after Beaver Meadows Visitor Center first opened its doors to the public, this artifact demonstrates some of the long-term consequences of Taliesin’s interior and exterior designs of Beaver Meadows. Symbolizing the continued compromise between the intended Visitor Center values and the growing legal requirements of buildings, this recessed ceiling light fixture was decommissioned for reasons unknown and transported to Rocky Mountain National Park’s archives with its bulb in tow.
