Context

Initially, Taliesin architect, Tom Casey made arrangements for custom double seats in the auditorium. However, Superintendent Fred Novak requested that the seats be stackable, which would allow for an multi-use auditorium.

These chairs above, custom selected for the Visitor Center, were more along the lines with what Novak had in mind. They remained in the auditorium until 2006, when they were finally removed. They have the same orange muslin or burlap upholstery that the other furniture does, however these are more convertible, with gold anodized steel legs and frame.

Similar to the wooden furniture with the orange upholstery, it is unclear whether these have been reupholstered since their 1966 creation.
