When the Thunder Comes
I feel no pain
only power
only liberation
I feel beautiful
with flushed red cheeks
a halo of wet hair
delicate droplets of water gliding down a cold pale face I imagine my eyes look more alive
bright against the darkness
I like to be alone
to soak in the majesty of the Earth
I feel as though my fears cannot hold up here
with the army of trees looming over me
shielding me like armor
I want to become
the rain,
the wind,
the fog
to dance as it washes away my sins
baptises me under the dark sky
when the Thunder comes
commanding the Earth
my feet follow suit
the aroma is intoxicating
pure
drowning out the smells of the city
I desire to join its circus
to be added to the symphony of Nature
swept up to the Heavens
where it goes and waits in between shows.
How does it prepare
for the next Battle?
the rain comes unexpectedly
feels like a cool hug
like a glass of water on a hot day
clarifying the latest worries from the week.
