The Space Age Hits the Road: Visionary Car Designs in America

1953 Willys Aero Ace

Known predominantly for their World War II Jeeps, the Willys-Overland Motor Company reentered the passenger car market in 1952 after a ten-year hiatus with the Aero. Priced at approximately $2,000, the 1953 Aero Eagle was designed as an inexpensive alternative to the full-size Ford, Chevy, Plymouth, and Studebaker models. However, like some of its luxury-minded rivals, the little Aero Eagle featured a jet-inspired hood ornament.
