The Mystère included a push-button ignition switch, bubble-shaped glass roof, television set behind the front seat, and a steering wheel that could be turned from either front seat. Like many cars of the period, the Mystère’s rear exhaust ports borrowed their stylistic motifs from jet engines. The public finally saw the car at the 1956 Chicago Auto Show, although it lacked the rear-mounted gas-turbine engine Ford planned for it.
