In contrast with the horizontal lines on the front grilles of many cars from the period, the Fairlane was decorated with four rows of floating stars just above the front bumper. A long streak of chrome ran down the side panels, culminating at the tailfins. The car was named after Henry Ford’s enormous Fair Lane estate in Dearborn, Michigan.
