Mission: Founded by Teofilo Colon Jr (a.k.a Tio Teo) in February 2010. BEING GARIFUNA is a media platform that uses photos, videos and articles to document the culture, arts, politics, sports, spirituality & social lives of people who identify as Garifuna. The Garifuna people are people of mixed ancestry (Carib Indian, Arawak Indian and African) who are originally from St. Vincent. After losing a war to the British, they were exiled to Roatan Honduras in 1797. They now reside in villages/towns on the Caribbean coasts of the Central American countries of Honduras, Belize, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Being Garifuna es el título de recursos digitales creado por Teofilo Colon Jr. En 2010. Being Garifuna tiene una página en YouTube que se dedica a la preservación de la lengua garifuna, pero también videos de eventos garifuna in los estados unidos. Being Garifuna tiene varios videos de música, fiestas, clases de garifuna y entrevistas con miembros de la comunidad. Being garifuna ayuda transmitir noticas que afecta a la comunidad a través de medias sociales. A través de Facebook Teofilo se conecta directamente con persona garífunas que viven en los Estados Unidos y en centro América. En su página Being Garifuna el anota cada evento cultural en la comunidad garifuna con fotos, videos y entrevistas. Desde su página garifuna han creado otros grupos y también se han conectados a varios recurso para empezar programas para ayuda a organizaciones garifuna.
