Physics for Poets
or are they arbitrary?
do we give them their heaviness
through poems
by writing how watching rain trails
from clouds not so faraway feels
like a divination
with chilly fingers and the smell of soaked cement
my creased palms are reservoirs for raindrops
Do we have the power to overcome
such inertia as hopelessness
by reading about that thing with feathers
or is arrogance and pretense
the only thing I offer
when I try on these poems for you
