Petrarchan Sonnet: Shallow Waters

My mind drifts across a perspiring sea and dips far below,
Breaking the surface tension before I sink down,
And I feel the echoes of my thoughts before they drown
In a deep ocean crevice led by a tumultuous overflow.

Say that I will rise again tomorrow
And evaporate completely at sundown.
To condense myself above humid clouds that crown
The blue cerulean skies a swimming indigo.
Will I drop far, far down when there comes rain,

A precipitation of contemplations that broil in unrest
And splatter against the surface again in disdain?
Such messy collections of scattered dew, I detest
More than a serene, winding river that will feign
Its tranquility in its efforts to reach something more manifest.
