Cabin Fever: Cantwell
when the sun sets at three o’clock
twilight stretches on for half the day
sometimes when the sky is clear
cloudless
you can see the faded moon
leached of its light
time passes more slowly in the dark hours
through the bone cold silence that threatens
to drive you half mad
so far removed from the precarious tilt of the world
there’s only that in-between place
silenced by snow
