James Lynch Adair






John Lynch Adair (Cherokee) was born in the Cherokee Nation in Georgia in 1828. He was a captain in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and after the war served in many official administrative and representative capacities for the Cherokee Nation. He edited five newspapers in his life: the Cherokee Advocate, the Daily Indian Chieftain, the Indian Chieftain, the Talequah Courier, and World. He died in 1896.
