Mom's Apple Crisp

Apple crisp is, without a doubt, my all time favorite food. Minnesota has some of the best apples in the country (yes even better than Washington). This is an easy and delicious recipe to make after a long day of picking apples.

Substitute flour for rice flour and/or butter with margarine for a fantastic gluten free/vegan apple crisp.

Any apple can be used for this recipe, but McIntosh, Gala, and Braeburn work best.

Peel and slice enough apples to pile above the baking dish (usually 8-10 large apples). The apples will shrink 1-2 inches while baking.
Pour a mixture of 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 cup water over the top.
In a separate bowl mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 3/4 cup flour. Evenly distribute over the apples.
Equally disperse 6 TBSP of butter over the top.

Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or until crispy.
